Hey guys, long time no update as always. It's been a long, long, LONG and arduous five and a half months away, but here I am again!
So, in winter quarter I FOUGHT to get my film "Erin" on track in Senior II with the help of many gracious people,
included. Katrina especially, even with her own film to work on, she still lended a hand and animated AND cleaned up quite a few key shots in my film, and for that, saying that I'm thankful for her help is putting it quite mildly. The film was animated and had all the backgrounds finished, but cleanup and color was a process I underestimated the difficulty of, and ended up doing that for a good portion of Spring quarter.
Thus, I completed my film for grading and end-of-year submission on time, even before that deadline was pushed twice due to unrelated reasons. However, despite that, I was uneligible to screen my film at the graduate show because quite simply, I am not set to graduate from SCAD until Fall of this year, and even that looks uncertain due to other circumstances. That bummed me out real, REAL hard for a very long time, added on with all the lost sleep, stress from other classes and the inevitable realization that 90% of my SCAD friends were going to graduate at the end of the quarter put me in a real rut. I've learned to put forth a tough exterior through my time here, but I, and everyone else that knows me very well could see that I was in a lot of emotional pain. The quarter ended with a happy note though, I got to see everyone else's films screened and said my goodbyes to everyone that was graduating, and I went home and took the next 3 weeks off from creative productivity out of fear for my mental, emotional, and even physical health.
But summer has begun for me, and as many of my friends are either getting jobs or hunting them as we speak, I'm taking it easy at least until the beginning of July. I am spending my summer with my grandparents in Pennsylvania again, as I have to retake a Math CLEP exam to pass out of a math class at SCAD. I am also looking to retool shots from my film that need serious tweaking at the advice of my professors as well as my own unhappiness with some of their turnouts. If anyone wants to help with that during the summer, contact me.
In the meantime, here's the trailer to my film:
My birthday was yesterday and received a Nintendo Wii U that came with Nintendo Land, and got Mario Kart 8 as a gift, and since Nintendo's running that promo right now with MK8, I scored a digital download of Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD!
I am going to Outer Banks, NC with my family for a week's vacation before I study for my test, and after I take my exam in August, I am once again returning to Otakon in Baltimore, MD with :iconjadpeanut: on August 8th-10. I will be returning with my Sir Daniel costume, but I'm also looking to make a Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier costume to wear on another day where I don't want to put on all that armor and limit my movement.
Also, as an effort to promote my actual work, I am going to open a new DeviantART account (and possibly a Tumblr) for my cosplay photography around Otakon at the latest, and will be removing my cosplay photos, with the exception of the ones that feature my costumes. I'll keep you all posted on that.
That's about it for what I'll be up to this summer. I'd say I'll try to be more frequent with my updates, but everytime I say that I don't post for months. See you all soon and have a great summer!
